Sixteen-year-old Derventio Excel and Ripley Rascals swimmer Jamie Ingram has set an impressive five Derbyshire County swimming records in the past five weeks.
This rich vein of form started with the Midlands Short Course Championships at Rugby in early December, where Jamie set both Senior and Junior records for the 1500m, swimming this 60 length race in 15 minutes and 56.32 seconds.
He also broke the junior 800m record during the same race, in a time of 8 minutes 25.86 seconds.
Jamie, who trains five times a week at the Moorways swimming pool in Derby, followed this up with a record in the 100m butterfly in the 50m pool at Ponds Forge in Sheffield just before Christmas, swimming this event in 56.76 seconds.
His fifth record was achieved, again at Ponds Forge, on 11th January, this time in the 50m butterfly. Jamie swam 26.38 seconds, breaking the previous record of 26.49 seconds.
Jamie, who is a member of the Derbyshire Institute of Sport, has qualified for the prestigious British Championships which will be held at the Olympic Pool in London in April. He will be competing in the 100m and 200m butterly races.
