The pre-Christmas Bolsover 10k a few members of Ripley Running Club who were up for the challenge.

Traditionally a very cold day, with difficult running conditions on the undulating course,; the 2012 version was no different.

Andy Parkin led home the Ripley contingent in 27th place, in a great time of 37.33. Gary Brown was next in 60th place in 39.46.

Ian Duffin and Richard Phillis kept each other company on the way round, both finishing in 41.05 in 80th and 81st place respectively.

Ron Ilsley rounded off the Ripley team in 94th, in 41.38, 770 finished the race.

Meanwhile, the first post-Christmas race was the Queen’s Head 5k, traditionally one of the more fun races to join in.

An undulating out and back course of 5k greets the competitors who line up to run off their Christmas dinners as quickly as possible.

Ripley once again supported this event very well, contributing 30 runners to the 121 finishers, with quite a few more Ripley supporters on the sidelines cheering the runners on.

Lisa Cashmore did very well on her debut for the club. Martin Penny and Rob Swift were more than likely hampered by their choice of fancy dress outfits for the duration of the run.

Dale Annable once again took the honours, coming home 1st, in a fantastic time of 16.00 and Luke Beresford was not far behind in 10th, followed closely by Dean Taylor in 11th.
