New Kickboxing club opens in Belper

A BRAND new martial arts club, PKA Kickboxing Belper has opened it’s doors at Belper Leisure Centre.

Classes are non-contact but regular sparring classes are run for those wanting to experience that side of the sport or just for extra training.

Members wanting to gain their belts to show off their progress will have access to regular gradings which are held every ten weeks.

Training takes place every Monday night between 8pm and 9pm in a private room at at the leisure centre. The class is open at all fitness levels and ages with a minumum starter age of seven.

For Bank Holidays, all students will be welcome at the Heanor class so they don’t miss out.

Melissa Carp from Ripley will be teaching the class with support from Neil Fletcher, Second Dan Black Belt and Heanor PKA club instructor. Melissa has over five years martial arts experience and has been class assistant at the Heanor PKA class for the past 18 months.

She has proved herself to be an excellent instructor after passing her coaching team exam and gaining her black belt.
