On Saturday, Ripley Running Club put out men’s and ladies relay teams at the Midland Area Road Relays at Sutton Park.
The men completed six stages of 5.88km and came 51st out of 69 teams with Dean Taylor starting off the relay with an impressive 21.13 followed by Matt Nicholls 24.32, Richard Kimber 22.05, Martin Penny 23.06, Joe Henstock 22.27 and finishing with Tim Clayton in 20.50.
The ladies completed four stages of 4.33km and came 35th out of 83 teams with Cathy Cresswell completing the first stage in 19.21 followed by Amy Bradley in 20.59, Esther Broughton 19.58 and finally Lucy Taylor brought the team home with the fastest ladies leg of 17.22.
A fantastic day was also had at the Robin Hood Half Marathon/Marathon on Sunday with two Ripley runners completing the marathon.
Richard West completed his debut marathon in 3:54.06 and Wayne Yearwood also dipped under four hours to finish in 3:59.58.
Ripley also had eight runners complete the half marathon with Joe Henstock and Geoff Cooper finishing in personal best times of 1:24.36 and 1:42.15 respectively.
Bupendra Parmar finished in 1:51.26, Angela Forte (1:52.27), Amy Bradley (1:57.33), Greg Bayliss (2:15.57), and Dennis Holmes (2:39.37)
Two Ripley runners contested the 13.8 mile off road T’Owd Man race, run by Wirksworth Running Club.
Luke Beresford was third with Wayne Smithurst also completing the race.
