Martin impresses in half marathon

Ripley Running Club were well represented in the popular Retford Half Marathon.

Martin Penny was the first back in the Green and Gold, in 62nd place, in a great time of 1.31.12, This bodes well for his upcoming London Marathon, to be run in April.

Cathy Cresswell set yet another personal best as she continues her recovery from injury, finishing in 136th place in 1.42.10, followed all the way by Matt Beresford in 137th, just one second behind.

Dennis Holmes has hit a purple patch in his running, managing a superb 144th, in 1.42.49, his fastest half marathon.

Jo Howett managed a very respectable 160th, in a time of 1.45.22.

She will be pleased with this, as she now turns her sights towards the upcoming triathlon season, having been bitten by the Tri bug last year.

Another prospective London Marathoner, Amy Bradley, managed 193rd, in a time of 1.49.43, which was also a personal best for her.

This gives a good indication of her form coming into the April 26.2 mileevent.

She has made no secret about wanting to break four hours, and this run will give her the confidence she needs.

Vicky Leach managed a solid 234th, in 1.57.05, a good run ahead of her Manchester marathon in April. Lisa Walton managed to knock 12 minutes off her previous best time, finishing in 2.16.19, good for 327th place.

356 runners finished.
