It isn’t that often that Formula One world champion Jenson Button gets to meet a member of Ripley Running Club, so imagine his delight when he ran into Ripley’s own Lisa Cashmore last weekend.

Lisa was down in Luton Hoo to compete in the Jenson Button Triathlon, a charity event supporting Help for Heroes.

A sprint triathlon in the morning decided whether you would go into the afternoon session to complete another sprint distance (750m swim, 20k bike, 5k run) or a Super sprint (500m swim, 10k bike, 2.5k run).

Lisa was lucky enough to do the super sprint in the afternoon, as the temperature soared to in excess of 25 degrees.

Meanwhile, Ripley RC’s Luke Beresford continued his rich vein of form with third place in the challenging Winster Hill Race. He just edged out Matt Jones, who finished seventh overall, but managed to claim the V40 1st place trophy.

Andy Parkin followed on in 12th place, chased all the way by Richard Phillis and Simon English in 25th and 26th respectively.

Other Ripley finishers included Martin Penney (43rd), Dennis Holmes (45th), Carl Hopkinson (50th), Dave Kinder (52nd), Esther Broughton (73rd), Jay Bird (83rd), Mike Corrigan (85th)., Alison Butlin (93rd) and Vicky Leach (104th).
