Up and coming athlete Jessica Turner has confirmed her place in the top three young hurdlers in the country and met an Olympic legend in the process.
The 17-year-old, who attends Belper School, took a bronze medal at the England Athletics National Championships in the U20 Womens 400m Hurdles. Her time of 60.43 was just two tenths of a second outside her personal best.
To cap the experience she was presented with her medal by GB Olympian and sprint legend Linford Christie.
This starts an intense five-week competition period for the Amber Valley and Erewash AC athlete. She will contest further top level competition including the Northern Championships at Manchester.
There is also The English Schools Finals in Birmingham and the Sainburys British Championships, also in Birmingham.
