Ambitious Heanor Taekwondo Club is heading into 2016 in high spirits after a successful year in 2015.

After achieving high grading results and competition success, the club is ready for the challenges of the new year.

Club spokeswoman Laura Morton said: “We have had a high pass-rate throughout all grades, and many members have improved tremendously, gaining more knowledge and experience every day to help them to their goals.

“We also had a successful year in 2015 in competitions. We had four students enter the North Midlands Championships in November when they accumulated five medals among them, including one student, Emily Weston, who won a gold, silver and bronze. Simeon Legore won a bronze medal too in what was his first competition.

“We also have gained a British champion because Emily Weston won a gold medal in the black belt tag team sparring, which is an excellent achievement.

“Every student achieved so much in 2015. We wish them all the best in 2016, with the guarantee of plenty of hard work to come.“
