The Booth Decorators League season kicked off with a flying start which saw 31 members of Ripley RC lighting up Teversal Grange in their unmistakable colours of green & gold.
It was a beautiful but difficult five-mile course around the trails of Silverhill Wood that awaited competitors with a climb up to one of the highest points in Nottinghamshire
First back for Ripley was Matt Jones with an impressive time of 28.56, closely followed by Luke Beresford (29.10) Simon English (32.47) Rich Simms (32.51) Ron Ilsley (32.55) James Thorneycroft (34.16) Tim Jacques (34.34) Rich Phillis (34.42) Phil Woodman (34.36)
First lady back was Ripley’s Lucy Taylor (35.14) who pipped husband Dean Taylor to the post by one second (35.15).
Less than 50 seconds later there was a cluster of Ripley runners cross the line: Matt Nicholls (35.17) Karl Tietz (35.23) Dennis Holmes (35.41) Karl Hopkinson (35.55) and Peter Collinge (35.57).
The next lady back was Cathy Cresswell (36.52), then Wayne Yearwood (36.55), Angela Forte (37.16), Adele Adams (37.20), James Fullwood (37.21) Jay Bird (39.40), Claire Coombs (41.13), Mike Corrigan (41.25), Alison Butlin (42.17), Eleanor Robinson (43.41), Jane Murden (43.47), Matt Beresford (43.55), Thea Highfield (44.38), Helen Yates (45.16) and Jo Brown (50.21).
It was a well organised event with a good turnout for all the clubs that participated and there was also great support that was forthcoming from the sidelines.
Ripley Running Club meets every Tuesday, from 6.45pm at Ripley Leisure Centre, based on Derby Road in the town and encourages runners of all abilities to come and join in for a run.
