Busy time for Ripley runners

Members of Ripley Running Club have shown good form in recent races.

Thirty-two Ripley runners attended the fifth and final road race of the BDL league, hosted by Heanor.

A 5.2 mile course starting and finishing at Shipley Cricket Club saw Dean Taylor first back for Ripley in sixth position in a time of 29.22.

Ian Duffin was back home in 32nd place in a quick time of 32.21, while first senior lady back was Ripley’s Lucy Holmes in 35th place in a time of 32.32.

Fiona Alexander was first Vet40 lady back home in 81st place in a time of 35.31.

The men’s team ended up fourth in the series while the ladies team went one better and ended up third, with both teams combined meaning Ripley were third out of 11 in the series.

The Chevin Fell Race was a 7.3km run and first back for Ripley was Luke Beresford in a second position in a time of 29.47.

Lucy Holmes was in 13th place and first lady yet again in a time of 32.12, while Dean Taylor was next back in 23rd place in a time of 34.30.

The No Walk In The Park 5km race was the next event for three of Ripley’s runners, a 5km race held on the first Saturday of every month around the paths of the Queens park in Chesterfield.

Up and coming runner Matt Bickerstaff improved on his personal best time coming home in third place in 17.04 while Simon English was back home in 20.06 and Fiona Alexander in 20.45.
