Anne Cook is Ripley Running Club’s resident ultramarathon runner and she recently took on the challenge of the The Hardmoors 110 Ultramarathon.
Starting in Helmsley, North Yorkshire, competitors had a time limit of 36 hours to complete the 110-mile single stage trail race, passing through the North York Moors and the beautiful Cleveland Hills before following the stunning Cleveland Heritage coastline and finishing in Filey.
Anne completed the course, supported by her team of Amy Bradley and Bev Cossey, who also ran approximately 50 miles of the course with her, and daughter Laura and husband Allan, who carried the supplies by vehicle.
This is an extremely impressive achievement, and has come at the end of a difficult and long training period.
Meanwhile, Dean Taylor once again led Ripley in the Tour of the Derwent Valley series over the bank holiday weekend.
Dean was defending champion, but was unable to defend his crown, taking third over the four race series. Luke Beresford managed fourth overall.
Martin Harvey was 1st MV60, Eleanor Robinson was 1st LV60. Cathy Cresswell and Karl Tietz were 2nd in their respective age groups.
Jay Bird also completed the tour, finishing in 42nd place overall.
