Amber Valley RUFC kept up the pressure on Midlands Four East (North) leaders Chesterfield Panthers with a 29-12 win against Long Eaton Saturday.
Valley applied the pressure on early, pinning Long Eaton back into their own half with kicks from Shaun Dowdall which would lead to Valley’s first try.
This came courtesy of a try from the pacy Will Hargreaves with Shaun Dowdall adding the conversion.
Long Eaton came into the game more and drew level with a converted try of their own.
But a try from Karl Bunting, converted by Dowdall, restored their seven-point lead. This was extended by a try from Will Hargreaves to make it 19-7.
Hargreaves’ afternoon soon took a turn for the worse when he was stretchered off with a serious leg injury after landing awkwardly.
There was time before half-time for Duran Wardale to score a try that made the score 24-7 to Valley at the break.
In the second half, Long Eaton responded with an unconverted try but the fightback was contained and the final score of the match was an Amber Valley try courtesy of Arron Robinson.
This Saturday, Valley are at Nottinghamiams while Chesterfield Panthers travel to play Belper.
