AFTER the success of the 2011 AEG grassroots rugby campaign, applications for the 2012 campaign are now open to junior and senior grassroots rugby teams from all over the UK and Ireland.

The campaign has been launched by AEG, the premium home appliance brand that combines advanced technology with award-winning design, and will see 40 grassroots rugby teams selected to receive free kit and laundry packages.

Each of the prize packages includes 22 bespoke rugby kits, which the teams will design with Canterbury Sportswear as well as a top-of-the-range AEG washing machine in time for the start of the 2012 rugby season.

AEG’s ongoing commitment to support grassroots sports in the UK began in early 2011, with a campaign that saw hundreds of junior rugby teams apply for Kit and Laundry packages.

Since then, more than 1000 kits have been supplied to grassroots teams and last year’s winners have had the chance to train with the England rugby team at Penny Hill Park and others have trained with England rugby legends at their own clubs.

Early 2012 saw AEG extend their support into Cricket and supplied hundreds of cricket shirts, trousers and caps to grassroots teams.

The winners have now designed their kits to include their club crests and will have them in time for the start of the 2012 cricket season as well as a washing machine to keep the whites in pristine condition.

Teams will now compete on the AEG Grassroots website to win the chance to train with the England cricket team.

The AEG Grassroots Sport Campaign has already created opportunities for clubs and schools to receive full team kits, one of the biggest financial constraints for many team, allowing them to distribute the money elsewhere into team costs and training.

Former England rugby star Austin Healey said: “It’s so important that AEG is continuing to support grassroots rugby this year. We need to give youth teams all the backing and support possible – they’re our future stars. The prizes on offer are money-can’t buy opportunities and I urge every team in the UK and Ireland to apply.”

To apply, simply fill out an application form at and 40 lucky teams will be selected.

In addition to the free kit and laundry products, each team will also have the chance to win some amazing prizes, including:

A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be coached by Rugby Internationals and legends at the winning team’s own rugby club followed by a Gala Day and charity auction hosted by Will Greenwood and Austin Healey.
