A tough afternoon for Ripley Rhinos at Tupton

Ripley Rhinos found it hard going at Tupton 2nds on a balmy afternoon on Saturday and were beaten 47-10 in this friendly.

Ripley again had a changed side and took a while to settle. Tupton had some direct runners and made the most with three first half tries. The maroon’s only reply was a penalty from skipper Will Evans as they went into half time 19-3 behind.

The Rhino scrum found it marginally easier playing down the slope second half but Tupton still were able to breach the Ripley defensive line four times despite the excellent efforts of full back Adam Parr.

Ripley did manage a quality try when Evans picked a great line and used his pace and footwork to score a try he converted but it was only a consolation as his team tired in the heat and gave the scoreline a lopsided view.

Despite the scoreline, this was a well contested game with Tupton’s abilities to break midfield tackles when they needed to being the key difference.

Full back Adam Parr had an excellent game in defence and attack and was a worthy recipient of the BAB Plumbing & Heating man of the match award from his team mates.
