CN Wright (Codnor) Butchers Division 6N

Cutthorpe (2pts) 78 all out [35.1 overs] (R Davey 5-13) lost to Langley Mill Utd (22pts) 81-5 [23 overs] (S Barlow 3-35, J Holmes 41*) by 5 wickets

LANGLEY Mill’s second XI recorded a comfortable five wicket victory against a 10-man Cutthorpe team at the Recreation Ground on Saturday.

Batting first, Cutthorpe had no answers to the line and length of skipper Rich Davey and slumped to 78 all out in the 36th over. Ian Thompson (27) and Adam Bointon (23) were the only batsmen to reach double figures as Davey grabbed five wickets for only 13 runs from his 13 overs.

Jay Holmes, Ryan Cox and Alex Bacon were also in the wickets, and Steve Walker’s nine overs cost him just four runs but without a wicket.

The Millers started well, racing to 44 before Rich Krupiak was caught by Nick Drew, off Bointon’s bowling, for 13.

Bointon also picked up the wicket of Nick Wright for four and Simon Barlow dismissed Bacon (8), Andrew Ball (4) and Craig Parker (2) before Holmes and Oliver Blake saw the Millers to a 22 point victory. Holmes’ knock was particularly impressive in difficult conditions and he finished on 41 with Blake on six.

For the hosts, Barlow returned 3 for 35 and Bointon 2 for 22.
