Marehay CC 1sts drew with Quarndon on Saturday in a DCCL Division One game that was ultimately halted by the weather.
Morning rain, hail and further April showers delayed proceedings after Marehay were put in to bat.
Openers Stephen Lee and Jonno Bradder struggled as the visitors’ seam attack took advantage of the conditions.
Both were caught behind as the ball darted around off the seam, Bilal Hussain being the successful bowler.
The middle order of Andy Walters, Ben Perry-Taylor (anchor role - 46) and Tom Burke (20) made steady progress until both perished in quick succession leaving the home side 125- 5.
Aussie Matt Doric (24) and keeper Bil Hartley (24) grasped the nettle with some fine and aggressive hitting, achieving a highly respectable total of 186-7, including six sixes in the last two overs.
After the break, opener Ben Spendlove was imperious during a hostile and accurate spell from Doric, easing the visitors to 109-2 when his lovely innings was curtailed by swing bowler Dean Mills.
Several accurate overs from spinner Perry-Taylor and the return of quick bowler Doric soon put the target out of reach, Doric the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3-43 as Quarndon closed on 146-8.
Marehay travel to Rolls-Royce next week with another positive performance behind them.
