Marehay CC 1sts had the better of the drawn game against Spondon on Saturday in the Derbyshire Premier Cricket League.
Batting first after losing the toss, Marehay eventually compiled 190-8 from their 50 overs.
Opener Ben Gartside made a fine 48 from just 43 balls.
His attacking knock included six fours and two sixes.
Jonathan Bradder scored 20 while lower down the order there were useful contributions from Gaz Buckley (17), James Kyte (30), Bil Hartley (29 not out) and Richard Wood (18).
For Spondon, Ben Ashdown took 3-33, while Waseem Fazal and Chris Windmill took two wickets apiece.
In reply, Spondon’s innings - and the match - ended when they had reached 130-7 from their 50 overs and so the game finished as a draw, although there were positive signs for Marehay in their second outing back in the top flight.
Skipper Richard Wood led the way with the ball, taking 3-21 from six overs.
All of the Marehay bowlers kept things tight, giving the Spondon batsmen very little to feed off.
Openers Ben Ashdown (18) and Josh Brear (31) made a decent start for their side.
Number three James Richards also did well with 27 but there then followed a clatter of wickets until Chris Windmill was able to steady the ship and bat through to the close with 33 not out.
