Amber Valley Hornets 14
Burton 3rds 0
RIPLEY-based ladies hockey club Amber Valley Hornets continued their dominance of the Derbyshire League third vision with a massive 14-0 win over Burton thirds.
Burton began well and held the Hornets for the first quarter.
Captain Rachel Warner then made two substitutions, bringing on Jane Nottman and Ellesha Garner up front.
It proved the required spark and Amber Valley romped to a 7-0 half-time lead with Nottman opening the scoring with her first touch, following up with goal number two straight from the restart by Garner with a lovely little slip around the keeper.
The other first half goals were provided by Charlotte Welsby who hit two, Nottman bagginging her first hat-trick of the season with the seventh being provided by Lynn Cresswell who scored on her return after a long injury.
The second half began as the first had ended with the hornets producing a flurry of goals.
Three goals came from short corners supplied by Dawn Spendlogve with Welsby (2) and Nottman on target.
Cresswell scored a sublime goal after much haggling in the penalty area and the tenth was provided via an own goal from a Burton player.
Garner and Nottman then finished the whitewash with another two goals each.
Player of the match was awarded to Terri Cartledge for an outstanding game.
The Hornets now sit comfortably at the top of the table with only one goal conceded in eight games played and 50 scored.
Tanya Porter, the Hornets goalkeeper can expect to be tested this week as the side take on league two club Ilkeston in a friendly.
