Hopes are raised

WITH Dronfield Town being held to a 2-2 draw by Borrowash Victoria Reserves, Adam Fordham scored both of the Dronfield goals, the hopes of the chasing pack in the quest for the Premier Division title were raised.

Particularly those of Ilkeston Town Reserves, 3-0 winners at Belper United and Rowsley 86 who won 1-0 at Shirebrook Town Reserves.

Nor would it be wrong to rule out Derby Rolls Royce Leisure although they have played more matches than any of their rivals.

However two goals from John Doran and one from Mark Wake kept them in the hunt with a 3-2 victory over Holbrook St Michaels.

At the other end of the table, Newmount lost 3-1 to Sandiacre Town with Jennison scoring the Newmount goal while Allestree and Cromford both made an upward move despite drawing 1-1.

Shepshed Dynamo Reserves won 1-0 at Long Eaton United Reserves through a goal by Drew Sherman.

Ripley went down 2-1 at home to Melbourne Dynamo.

In Division One, top of the table Willington visited fourth place Chellaston and won 3-2 to consolidate their position.

Second-placed Matlock Sports lost ground as they were beaten 3-1 by Woolley Moor United.

Castle Donington Town went down 4-2 at home to Dronfield Town Reserves. Oliver Shaw and Ryan Leaversley scoring the Donington goals.

Derbyshire Amateurs, for whom Singleton and Broughton scored the goals, drew 2-2 with Derby Rolls Royce Leisure Reserves, while Kevin Smithurst scored the only goal of the game for Holbrook St Michaels Reserves as they beat Pastures.

Division Two leaders, Selston were in cup action beating Whatton United 8-1 to reach the final of the Nottingham FA Junior Cup.

Steven Smith scored three, Jermaine Maxwell four and Sean Gregory one.

There was no game for second-placed Beeston, they should have played Selston, but third placed Mickleover RBL played and lost 2-1 at Melbourne Dynamo Reserves.
