The hunt is on for youngsters wanting to try new skills through KalliKids Sponsored Child and Amber Valley Kickboxing’s club at Heanor.

Kids of ages 7+ from all walks of life are being invited to apply to take part in the project, where they might be picked to try kickboxing for a whole year for free.

Neil Fletcher, Senior Instructor at the Heanor club, said: “This is a great opportunity for a young person to experience and learn martial arts at no cost for a whole year.

“All training and grading exams will be taken care of. I’ve seen many young people really benefit from the increase in their fitness, confidence, discipline and self-control martial arts can bring.”

This is the second year KalliKids has run the Sponsored Child scheme with huge expansion from 20 sponsored places in 2014 to now having more than 85 nationally.

Founder of KalliKids, Karen Bach, said: “Inspiring young people to take part in new activities is pivotal to everything we do. Not only does it further their skills but also helps nurture their confidence and social skills.

“I would encourage families to take a look at the Sponsorships on offer. It doesn’t cost anything to look. It doesn’t cost anything to apply. And if successful it doesn’t cost anything to take part.”
