An Adam Attwater wonder strike set Holbrook Sports u16s on the way to an impressive 4-0 home win over local rivals Codnor Boys at the weekend.

The first half was dominated by the home side with some excellent and incisive possession football.

Indeed, it was hard to believe that when the half time whistle blew the game had remained goalless.

However, shortly after the restart, Sports carved open yet another opportunity, expertly despatched by team captain Adam Attwater’s screamer from just outside the area.

With the deadlock now broken, Holbrook could smell blood and launched wave after wave of attacks which on the 58th minute resulted in an easy tap in for league top scorer Connor Bradley.

He then added a deserved third for Sports, showing his composure from close range after Ryan Jackson tore apart the Codnor defence.

Holbrook made a couple of changes midway through the second half and it was substitute James Blount who set Sports away after some determined play in the midfield culminating in Ben Marsden’s 2nd goal of the season from just inside the area.

Holbrook went close again just before the final whistle but the score remained Holbrook Sports U16s 4 Codnor Boys U16s 0 and the victory was secured.
