Selston go third after comfortable victory

Selston continued their terrific start to their first season in the East Midlands Counties League with a comprehensive 4-1 home win over Arnold Town.

Perry Marriott struck twice and Kenan Layton and Carl Moore were also on target as Selston claimed their sixth win from 11 matches to go third.

Layton broke the deadlock before he turned provider as his free kick was headed in from 10 yards by Marriott.

The visitors pulled a goal back 10 minutes into the second period against the run of play.

Twelve minutes later Selston restored their two-goal advantage when Hempsall’s header from a Layton corner was saved, but Marriott headed home.

Moore capitalised on an error in injury-time to complete the scoring.
