Ripley Rangers U11’s extended their unbeaten run to six games with a 4-1 win over Ashfield Arrows.
Ripley started at a rapid pace with Alfie Quinn shooting wide and Todd Wells forcing the Ashfield keeper to save bravely at his feet.
Ripley took the lead when Morgan Boyle’s through ball was finished well by Cade Croshaw and it was soon 2-0 when Quinn ran from half way to beat the keeper. At this very important stage in the game Joe Timmons was forced to dive at the feet of an Arrows striker, but as the ball sprang loose it was heading goal wards until Harvey Keely slid in to clear off the line.
Ripley went on to make it 3-0 when Boyle launched the ball back into the box for Wells to score, before man-of-the-match Croshaw made it 4-0 in the lead up to half-time as he latched onto a superb through ball from Bekir Ozdemir.
Ripley continued to make chances but failed to add to their tally, with Keely coming closest when his powerful header forced an excellent save from the Ashfield keeper.
As Ripley failed to extend their lead Ashfield grew into the game and, despite valiant defending by Oliver Bennett, pulled a goal back with a shot going in off a post.
However, with only five minutes remaining, Ripley saw out a comfortable victory.
