Ripley Rangers U11’s lost 4-0 to Manor Bayern in their first match back from an extended Christmas break.
Ripley started well, dominating first half possession but only had a saved long range shot from Lewis Holmes to show for their efforts.
A Joe Frogson free kick then found the net only to be ruled out for a offside.
The game then turned in favour of Manor when Ripley lost possession on half way and Manor broke well to score.
Cade Croshaw had a shot well saved and man-of-the-match Morgan Boyle had an effort blocked, but Ripley went into half-time a goal down.
The second half got off to the worst possible start with Ripley conceding within two minutes.
Though Ripley steadied, they conceded twice more in the second half. First giving the ball away on the right before a combination of the strong wind and a rare slip by keeper Tommy Austin made it 3-0.
Then another right wing run and cross undid Ripley again. Two good saves from Austin and gritty performances from Harvey Keeley, Lewis Holmes and Bekir Ozdemir in defence and midfield kept a lid on the final score.
