Ripley Rangers under 10s entered two teams in the Codnor Boys seven-a-side tournament, Ripley Rebels and Ripley Renegades.
Both sides did well in the group stage and qualified for the semi-final knockout.
The Rebels won three matches, drawing two, and losing one match whilst The Renegades won two, drew two and lost two matches.
Rebels met a Belper Sports side in their semi-final and ran out 2-0 victors thanks to goals from Ben Morris and Alfie Quinn.
Renegades met an Ilkeston Town side who had narrowly beaten them in the group stage, but the Renegades had saved their best for the semi-finals and comfortably won 2–0 with Bekir Ozdemir scoring both goals.
This set up an all-Ripley final to finish off a wonderful day.
Rebels had taken the group match 1–0 with a well-struck Todd Wells free kick but this result was to be reversed in the final.
The hard working Renegades, who only conceded twice in eight matches, shut out the high scoring Rebels and when Lewis Holmes battled through midfield and pocked the ball into the path of Brooklyn Bullock to finish with aplomb the Renegades had completed a successful day for both Ripley sides.
The club would like to say “a massive well done to all Ripley players and both managers: Dale Wells and Paul Bullock.”
