The point may prove vital in their National League North survival bid.

Brendon Daniels gave the Reds the advantage with his angled drive in the 43rd minute after Ryan Jennings had played Craig Westcarr into the target area.

On a pitch made heavier by showers during the game, both sides did well to create as many chances as they did.

But the simplicity with which Nuneaton equalised 11 minutes from time will have caused concern, as Daniel Nti glanced home a header from Niall Heaton’s long throw.

Midway through the first half Sam Topliss embarked on a strong central run for the Reds before drawing a superb save from visiting keeper Ross Etheridge.

Luke Shiels headed over from Daniels’ corner and Westcarr was not far off with a header from a Topliss cross.

Alfreton continued to edge the first half and Chris Sharp saw a shot blocked before Tom Allan headed over from the following corner.

At the other end Viktor Johansson denied Nti either side of Daniels’ opener.

After Nti levelled, Craig Disley had a shot blocked for the Reds and Etheridge held a well-struck Daniels free-kick.
