Alfreton Town Football Club have appointed a chief executive officer ahead of the 2014/15 Conference Premier season and Paul Wetton is now responsible for the day-to-day running of the club.
As the Reds head into a fourth successive season at the non-league pyramid’s top table, they are looking to Wetton to help improve matters away from the pitch as they seek to improve the club financially.
Wetton, 34, has as an impressive pedigree having previously worked as a scout/recruitment officer for Sheffield Wednesday Football Club, a goalkeeping coach for Nottingham Forest Ladies and has also coached for the University of Nottingham.
More tellingly and apt for the post, he has worked as a Sports Management Consultant and studied law at University.
The Belper man began work for the club this week and his remit includes maximising income generation and introducing additional revenue streams both on match days and outside of them.
