Swanwick Pentrich Road earned a 1-1 draw on Saturday at Clifton All Whites in the Central Midlands League.
The Swans arrived at The Norman Archer Memorial Ground on the back of a 5-0 win and looking to advance further up the table.
Clifton started the brighter of the pair and soon tested Adam Jablonski, the Swanwick stopper, forcing him to make some good saves. The Swans soon got into their stride, Guy Wilding stealing possession but neither striker could convert, with David Robinson firing wide from the rebound.
The second half was Clifton’s to lose, taking the lead early on, with Jablonski unable to stop the third shot in as many seconds. The visitors then rallied, shaking the crossbar with a vicious free-kick from Wilding. Minutes later Ian Milson rose highest of all to plant the ball into the top left corner, from a Adam Gross throw-in.
With two of the Swans retiring injured, Oliver Russell was sent into the fray and he found Wilding with a fantastic ball. The Swanwick striker was able to force a good stop from Craig Anderson.
Meanwhile, Swanwick Pentrich Road Reserves lost 4-3 to Pinxton Reserves.
Swanwick’s second string side were pleased as punch to receive a new kit, thanks to Hampshire Hill Finance. Under the guidance of team manager Andy Worrall, the reserves came into this match with an unbeaten run, that goes back to half way through last season. However, Pinxton came and spoilt the party by claiming their first win of the season.
The lead changed hands three times, both teams were a credit to their respective club.
With a Shane Buckerfield brace and a Dan Ball goal, the home side would have expected to take all three points but on the day it wasn’t to be.
The reserves face Sherwood Colliery away next Saturday.
