Perfect Nicholls hat-trick fires South Normanton

Central Midlands League

Premier Division South

Blidworth 1

South Normanton Ath. 4

SOUTH Normanton Athletic overcame a blistering start by Blidworth to pick up another three-point haul.

The hosts had David Voller sent off just after the half-hour mark for illegally keeping out a goalbound Matt Phillips shot.

From then on it was all South Normanton Athletic and the penalty was the start of a perfect Adam Nicholls hat-trick on 35 minutes.

His hat-trick was scored with both feet and the last goal with his head.

The second half started as good as the first half ended, with Adam Nicholl’s second goal. He picked the ball up just outside the 18 yard box, beat Blidworth’s skipper Keir Webster, and drilled the ball low into the opposite corner with a crafted diagonal strike to put the Shiners 2-0 up.

A minute later, Nicholls despatched a cross from the right with a header from ten yards to make it 3-0 and seal his hat-trick.

Daniel Briscoe then made an entrance from the bench and stamped his mark on the game with a drilled ten yarder that made the net shudder on the hour mark.

Scott Goody scored a consolation from the penalty spot on 88 after Shaun Roberts had brought down Carl Gould in the area.

This Saturday, South Normanton Athletic have an attractive home game with Belper United visiting.

Kick-off is 3pm.
