Liam Hearn leaves crisis club Ilkeston FC for Alfreton Town

Alfreton Town have today announced the shock signing of former favourite Liam Hearn.

Hearn netted 65 times for the Impact Arena club between 2008 and 2011 and had only recently joined crisis club Ilkeston FC as a player coach.

The shock move comes just a day after Ilkeston were suspended from the Evo-Stik league over outstanding debts to football creditors.

Ilkeston FC bosses maintain they have every intention of paying the debts and say they are being chased ‘more aggresively’ due to the sale of former player Che Adams to Birmingam City.

A club statement read: “It is a fact that the club owes money to football creditors (namely, clubs) in relation to historic matters and that – in view of the speculation about the club now being in receipt of substantial funds following the sale of Che Adams from Sheffield United to Birmingham City - debts have been chased more aggressively.

“This has resulted in our suspension, but provided we are able to pay the football clubs what they are due, it will be lifted.
