League issues call to teams and sponsors

The Matlock & District Football League is now looking for new and unattached teams for the 2013/2014 season.

Among the local teams already playing in the league’s two divisions are Codnor Miners, Riddings Rovers, AFC South Wingfield and AFC Lea Holloway.

Teams also play in the famous Cavendish cup, the Manor Pharmacy Shield, The Matlock Cup, the Invitation Shield and the Derbyshire Cup. If you are interested, get in touch with the league secretary (details below).

Meanwhile, the league is currently looking for new sponsors for the 2013/2014 season. In what has been a tough time for local football and businesses alike, they are offering firms the chance to make a difference and would be grateful for any help.

Sponsoring a local football league could open up so much potential revenue from geographically targeted customers, and for a small outlay, also gain publicity for your generous financial support.

The league is well-established, dating back to 1898, and is regionally known across Derbyshire. If you represent a company that is looking to advertise through the league on a weekly basis and wants to be recognised as a main sponsor, then contact the league via www.leaguewebsite.co.uk/matlockdistrictfootballleague or call secretary and treasurer Jim Else on 01773 833945.
