Law: I’m ready for tough challenge

Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law admits it is going to be even tougher next season after having his playing budget cut by 25 per cent, but that he is ready for the challenge.

The Reds are also returning to their part-time roots with training twice a week in the evenings replacing the three days per week which has been in place for the past two years.

Despite Law, now entering the final year of his contract, guiding his side to 13th final place in the Conference Premier Division this season, outside factors mean that he is likely to have to rebuild part of his squad

He explained: “I have had a meeting with the chairman and the budget is going to be reduced, so we may not be able to keep all of the players, who knows?.

“We are going to be up against it. We are going to have a fight to keep our players because they are all going to have to take a reduction in pay. “But, one thing I can promise the fans is we will all be in this together again. I am definitely not a quitter, and I am ready for the challenge of putting a squad together which can compete at this level.”
