Latest victory means FC Heanor are going up

After a season filled with dominant performances, FC Heanor clinched promotion from the Derby Taverners Sunday Football League’s Intermediate Division Two with three games still to play.

At the weekend, they were up against Jonty Farmer again and beat their hosts 4-1.

FC Heanor went into this match with one eye on this weekend’s cup final and it showed.

They made hard work of the first 30 minutes until Stephen Guilor shot and scored from 25 yards into the top right hand corner.

However it wasn’t until midmay through the second half, when Jonty scored due to some sloppy defending, that FC Heanor finally turned on the style with a wonderful looping corner from Nick Mann which found its way into the net. Nathan Poyser also scored a poacher’s goal scoring between the goalkeeper’s legs. Jay West then scored a lovely solo goal to wrap up another three points.

With promotion in the bag, FC Heanor now look forward to their cup final. It is played at Borrowash Victoria’s ground, on Sunday, April 6. The opponents are Florence Nightingale and kick off is at 10.30am.
