Heanor Town suffered only their second defeat in 11 games when the Lions, supported by a great following, travelled to Bridlington Town AFC and lost 5-0.
The defeat last Wednesday ended hopes of the team going unbeaten through the whole of October – however the six wins, one draw and one defeat isn’t a bad record to have.
And the response to the setback, a 5-1 win at Parkgate on Saturday, was an impressive one and keeps the Lions in the top ten of the Northern Counties East League Premier Division.
Goals from Moran, Blake, Raven, Debrouwer and Benger showed that Heanor are not a one-man team.
They are looking to win on home turf this Saturday when Armthorpe Welfare travel to the Town Ground for a 3pm kick off.
Heanor beat Armthorpe 3-1 earlier in the season, Stevenson, Grantham and Haughton with the goals. Going into this weekend, Armthorpe currently lie in 18th position with only one away win in seven games.
It appears the lack of depth in the squad is being dealt with by manager Glen Clarence, as winger Anton Daniel signed for the club from Central Midlands League side Real United.
The club also has eyes on other signings but until they are confirmed nothing can be shared at this point.
The reserves are on a fantastic 11-game unbeaten run, their last defeat being at Radford Reserves on September 17. The reserves have already supplied Jake Davis to the first team squad this season who appears regularly on the team-sheet.
Tricky winger Alex Marshall made an impressive cameo appearance for the first team late in the game at Bridlington. It is good to see some stability for the reserve team and that is paying off with their results so far this season.
The under 19s squad is looking to grab a win on Thursday night against a good Blidworth u19 side. With it being £2 entry, the management of the under 19s are encouraging people to come and create a good crowd and a positive atmosphere.
