Aldercar Community Language College is Derbyshire’s first FA Futsal Fives League venue and has also been chosen to host one of the qualifying leagues for this season’s FA Futsal Cup competition.
The competition is returning to the FA’s small-sided calendar for the first time since 2010-11.
The FA Futsal Cup, like its football brother, is one of the most prestigious events in English Futsal, providing local teams from recreational leagues with the opportunity to compete with the very best from the FA National Futsal League.
The qualifying league will be an added incentive to the venue’s existing Futsal offer. Games will be played on a Tuesday evening, the normal slot when the venue’s FA Futsal Fives League runs, with kick offs at 8pm, 8.40pm and 9.20pm and matches being 35 minutes long.
Tom Nelson, community sports development manager at Aldercar Community Language College, said: “We will be looking to run a six-team league, beginning on Tuesday, January 14, 2014. Each team will play one another once, with the winner at the end of the five-week cycle progressing to the Regional Qualifying Tournament. If you’re new to Futsal then on January 7 20104 we’re offering a taster session for £2 per person to understand the rules and get used to the ball prior to the league starting the following week.
“Players must be male and be at least 16 years of age to take part. The league will run with all of our usual internal rules and will be priced as normal at £20 per week. Should your team be interested in taking part in what is guaranteed to be a fantastic spectacle, I would be grateful if you could contact me as soon as possible to confirm your interest. To confirm your teams place there is a £10 registration Fee for all new teams (our current FA Futsal Fives teams have already paid this so will not have to pay it again). All interest and confirmed entries should be submitted to me by no later than January 5.”
