Foresters looking good for season

Eastwood & Heanor Foresters Football Club is going from strength to strength ahead of their first season of competitive action.

The under 18s youth squad is to play its home matches at Aldercar Recreation Ground, Langley Mill, with players from around the local area including Heanor, and is a family-run club, formed back in November with a view to growing year by year and bringing local talent together of all abilities from neighbouring areas.

Club secretary Domenica Lopinto’s aim is to look for opportunities for the players to develop their skills and highlight talent to local clubs or further afield if necessary, while providing coaching opportunities from within the club itself.

The personal goal of team manager Gianfranco Formosa is to bring the love of football back to the sport and ensure the players feel motivated and enjoy the game on and off the pitch.

He feels that he has a talented and exciting team and is proud to take them in to the Derby City Saturday AM League Division Two this season.

Assistant manager Ben Saxton provides the players with his knowledge in goalkeeping skills and youth football whilst his experience of being a league referee gives the players the skills in managing conflict on match day.

The first friendly against Eastwood and Kimberley F.C saw them win 3-2 and other pre-season games have taken place against Ripley Rangers and Selston FC this week.

Training takes places every Tuesday evening from 6.30pm to 8pm at Eastwood Leisure Centre, Mansfield Road, Eastwood.

If anyone is interested in joining the club, please contact club administrator Lesley Coppins on 07817 548239

In addition, the club is delighted to have been presented with a cheque for £320 from Cllr Keith Longdon, Eastwood South Liberal Democrat county councillor.

He has given a donation to help towards buying the boys training jackets for the upcoming season.

Eastwood and Heanor Foresters FC is always looking for sponsors for our club to help with future development and growth, and would welcome anyone who is interested. Please contact club secretary Domenica Lopinto on 07854 395588 or email
