Heanor Town celebrated in style after deservedly beating Alfreton Town in the third round of the Derbyshire Senior Cup at the lmpact Arena on Tuesday night.

Kieran Debrouwer capped a fine personal performance with the winning goal ten minutes from the end of extra-time, lashing home Gary Webster’s pass from 12 yards with the help of Ross Atkins’ left-hand upright.

A dipping effort from Debrouwer was held by Atkins on 18 minutes, then the same player headed wide from a Webster cross, with Alfreton responding through JJ Hooper’s free-kick that drifted wide.

Another Debrouwer shot was held by Atkins after 35 minutes, then a jinking run by Taylor resulted in a cross that his Alfreton colleagues could not take advantage of.

Darran Kempson’s downward header from Taylor’s 48th minute corner was held by Mark Frost, then five minutes later Nathan Benger’s explosive effort from 25 yards rebounded off the angle of crossbar and upright as the Reds were almost caught out.

Vehement penalty claims were waved aside one minute from normal time as Wishart was apparently sent sprawling by Matthew Blake from Jay McFadzean’s intuitive pass, then moments later Kempson headed wide at the back post from a McFadzean corner.

Extra-time was uneventful until Debrouwer struck in the 110th minute, then Alfreton summoned more urgency than they had previously exhibited with McFadzean just failing from 20 yards before Daniel Meadows received Shaw’s through-ball to swivel and smash the ball against the Heanor crossbar.
