HEANOR Town Reserves gave their best performance of the season and cheered their supporters at the Town Ground to make progress in the Derbyshire Divisional Cup (South).

The young Lions were ahead through Kev Rowles after just 11 minutes and when George Walker increased the lead on 28 the team were good value for their lead and the excellent standard of football.

It might have been three before the break but Dan Storer surprisingly missed from the penalty spot. But when the Lions were awarded a second penalty on 69 minutes Storer stepped up with confidence and made no mistake this time.

The scoring was completed by Heanor’s man of the match Craig Riley after 78 minutes, and the scoreline in no way flattered the Lions who played some excellent football throughout.

Confidence is now starting to show through and with their best performance of the season came their best result of the season.

Heanor: Sean Pickworth, Craig Riley, Adam Willetts, John Holdstock, George Walker, Jonathan Archer, Jay Furlong (Jake Watson), Stephen Holdstock (Matt Hewitt), Kev Rowles (Carl Pare), Dan Storer, Nigel Haslam.
