Derby County coach Darren Wassall wants Brian Clough Trophy back from Nottingham Forest

Derby County head coach Darren Wassall wants the Brian Clough Trophy back from Nottingham Forest.

The Rams go into tomorrow’s East Midlands derby looking to level the scores from November’s 1-0 defeat at the City Ground.

Wassall is well aware of the history between the two clubs and the importance both sets of fans put on the result.

And he is eager to get his hands on the prestigious trophy in what he has labelled a ‘big game’ for his Derby side.

“It’s a big game for us; the players, supporters and staff,” Wassall told dcfc.co.uk. “We’re all looking forward to it and we have to make sure that we are at it from 12:30pm tomorrow.

“We didn’t get the result that we wanted at the City Ground so we owe them one if you like.

“It’s a massive game for everyone and bragging rights are up for grabs for the rest of the season.

“We want to get the Brian Clough Trophy back and improve our recent record against Forest; we are due a victory against them.

“Every game is important but this one is just that little bit more. I’m excited for it and I am looking forward to it.”

Wassall believes the packed out iPro Stadium crowd can help drive Derby on and called on Rams fans to make the difference.
