Charity match raises over £450 for twins with SMA

Charity football match

Ambergate 3

Belper All Stars 2

AMBERGATE won the ‘Twins with SMA’ Cup in this year’s annual charity event after beating last year’s winners, Belper All Stars, by the odd-goal-of-five at the Thomas William Playing Field at Heage.

Andrew Stevenson netted a brace of goals in the win, Shaun Bestwick providing the other strike while Paul Robinson and Tommy Leighton were on target for the Belper All Stars side.

The man of the match award went to Ambergate goalkeeper Jason Hooley for his superb first half display.

After the game the players and supporters went to the Greyhound public house in Belper for food and drinks.

There, a raffle took place, and a quiz compiled by Dave Kinder.

Also ‘killer’ pool was played whilst listenening to DJ Ali Worth providing some tunes.

A great day had by all and the real winner was that the amount of over £450 was raised towards what is an extremely worthy cause.

Special thanks are extended to Tim Turner from the Greyhound, referee Barry Elmore and Jim Power of Power electrical, the trophy sponsors.

The Twins with SMA charity is in aid of twins Sam and Alex Bolton who both have a condition called Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a nerve wasting disease.

Further details about the condition can be obtained from a website which was set up a few years ago
