Cambridge test awaits the Reds

Alfreton Town are in Blue Square Bet Premier Division action on Tuesday night when they head to ninth-placed Cambridge United looking to bounce back from Saturday’s 3-0 home defeat against Woking.

Reds’ manager Nicky Law is again without Anton Brown and Adam Quinn and a late check will be needed to assess Ross Killock’s fitness as the talented youngster had another game with Leeds United’s Development Squad on Monday.

The Woking defeat has left the Reds in 18th place, still five points above the relegation places and a return to winning ways would be most welcome.

The sides shared the spoils in the first game of the season with a 1-1 draw at the Impact Arena back on December 18, a Michael Gash penalty on 90+2 minutes rescuing United a point after Alfreton had led from the 27th minute thanks to a superb direct free kick strike by Josh Law.

Cambridge have won seven of their 15 home games so far, losing five and drawing three at the R Costings Abbey Stadium.

In their last outing, the Us went down 3-2 at in-form Kidderminster Harriers last Saturday.

Kick-off is 7.45pm.
