Baranow’s thunderbolt for George Inn stuns Bluey’s boys

Full back Jake Baranow scored a stunning opening goal to give George Inn an early lead in their Alfreton QTS Sunday League first division game with Bluey’s FC.

A 50 yard run culminated in a fierce drive that flew into the net. Laurence Bond lashed home a second prior to the break and Liam Brown added another following the resumption.

Chris Booth bundled in a pin-point cross from Joe Stevenson to reduce the deficit, but an Ian Cope tap in restored the home side’s advantage. Booth rammed home a second to make it 4-2 but his effort proved to be too little too late.

Duffield Dynamos maintained their title challenge with a comfortable 4-0 away win at Boundary Inn.

Jacksdale Social Club found themselves a goal down at Jolly Colliers but a David Robinson penalty kick saw them level.

Goals from Nathan Ball and Phil Shaw assured the visitors of a 3-1 victory.

In Division Two, Mich Williams scored for Out of Town but his goal was insufficient to prevent his side going down 1-4 to Ripley White Lion.

Marlpool United beat Jacksdale MW Athletic 4-2.

Rainbow International were in Alfreton Cup action and ensured their place in the next round at the expense of Hayloft. Nigel Haslam and Matt Brittle each scored twice in a 4-0 win.
