Alfreton Sunday Football League review for September 8

Adam Bellamy scored four as SHIRLAND MW brushed aside CODNOR MINERS ARMS to record a resounding 8-0 win. Adie Whitmore (2), Jamie Morgan and Steve Wright were also on the mark as the home team kick-started their season.

Sam Brewster and Gary Robinson got the goals that secured JACKSDALE MW their second straight win as they turned round a single goal half time deficit to beat AFC SOUTH NORMATON – for whom Wade Marriott was the marksman – by a narrow 2-1 margin.

At the other extreme, CRIB ran in a dozen in defeating last season’s champions MARLPOOL WHITE LION 12-1. There were hat-tricks for Liam Brown and Luke Crosby, two each for Adam Moss and Matt Phillips, and one from Adam Nicholls and Dan Riley. Kaine Knight got Lion’s consolation.

HAYLOFT won the battle of last season’s two promoted sides as they beat AMBER ATHLETIC 3-1. Their goals were shared between Lewis Allsopp, Matt Byard and Darren Mason-Bennett, whilst Andy Eley was on target for Athletic.

The RAINBOW INTERNATIONAL v CORONATION CLUB encounter was marred by a mass brawl near the end that resulted in a sending off and a spate of bookings. For the record, the visitors won 5-1. However, the goal-of-the-game belonged to Rainbow’s Kieran Edwards who struck home a 35 yard volleyed effort.

In Division Two, there was a hat-trick for Jay Miles in his side’s 4-2 win at GALLOWS INN. Adam Hassall got the other to maintain RIPLEY WHITE LION’s perfect start to the season.

HEANOR STAFF went down 2-4 at home to DERBY MADRID.

OUT OF TOWN switched their game to the ground of opponents SWANWICK VILLA but it made no difference to the outcome as they returned home having secured a 6-2 win. Ash King (2), Dale Rayner, Tim Stone, Dan Cummings and Josh Gratton got the goals.

HOLMEWOOD MW were the day’s highest scorers as they hammered RAILWAY (Pinxton) 14-0. Striker Steve Adams got five, midfielder Michael Saville a hat-trick and there were doubles for Justin Deakin, and Craig Young. Ashlee Morton and Steph Holland also weighed in with one apiece.

In the third division, ALLIANCE HEALTHCARE went down 3-7 to ALFRETON MINERS ARMS; Danny Harris, Jay Bowers and Craig Parker getting their goals.

A brace from Dale Carline sealed the points for BOUNDARY INN who beat HEANOR STAFF 2-0.

JACKSDALE SOCIAL CLUB were too good for GLADIATORS; the score-line 3-0. Meanwhile MARLPOOL UNITED overcame BULLS HEAD 5-1.
