Gateshead 2, Alfreton Town 1

ALFRETON Town exited this season’s FA Trophy at the last 16 stage as Gateshead came from behind to win 2-1 at the International Stadium on Tuesday night.

The Reds made a good start and went in front after just six minutes when Eddie Odhiambo was adjudged to have put through his own net.

Gateshead equalised on 43 minutes when Jon Shaw netted from the penalty spot after Greg Young had fouled Yemi Odubade as the pair chased onto a Josh Gillies through ball.

The winner came on 57 minutes with James Curtis powering home a header from a corner from six yards, it was a goal which ultimately put the Reds out and sends Gateshead to Luton Town in the quarter finals of the competition.

Alfreton Town return to Blue Square Bet Premier Division league action on Saturday when Darlington are the visitors to the Impact Arena. kick-off is 3pm.
