Sansom, 11, took on home town favourite Clark Titteton of host club Handsworth ABC, but despite having two previous bouts was no match for Sansom’s fast hands and good footwork which enabled him to pick up the points and a well deserved win.

Fighting on the same bill was Sansom’s stable mate Daniel Mountain who had a rematch with Sam Fields (Buxton ABC) whom he beat on a majority decision last year.

Mountain, 15, saw off Fields’s initial flurry as he used his height and reach and it didn’t take the Aldercar boxer long to get inside and land his own good clean punches which forced the referee to give Fields a standing count.

In the second round the pattern of boxing was similar but Dan’s clean accurate punches brought two more standing counts and the referee was forced to stop the contest in Dan’s favour.
