Darley Dale 1st XI 179/ (pts) drew with Marehay 2nd XI 125/8 (pts)
Marehay’s second team missed an opportunity to record their first win of the season after a good bowling performance was followed by a poor batting display.

However the return of Dan Palmer (2/43) and Chris Ford (4/35) restricted the visitors to 179/8 from 46 overs. Marehay’s reply got off to a terrible start as Mat Bailey (0), Brian Caulton (0) and Craig Robinson (1) all fell inside the first three overs to leave the score on 4/3.
The wickets of Matt Wilkinson, Jamie Selby and Joe Spray soon followed with Marehay reeling at 36/6 from 19 overs.
With Darley Dale chasing maximum points, Wayne Richardson (18) and Ford (35) batted defiantly in seeing off 79 and 82 balls respectively to guide the hosts towards a draw.
Despite both batsmen departing, 16 year old Palmer batted with maturity finishing unbeaten on 32 as the second batting point was claimed and the innings closing on 125/8.
Openers Paul Carson (3/25) and Adrian Kershaw (2/36) were the pick of the bowlers as the points were shared 18-8 in Darley Dale’s favour.
