A quiet first-half saw few chances, Normanton going closest when Josh Thompson hit the post with curling strike on 43 having replaced the injured Ross Coxon as sub on the half-hour mark.

Into the second-half and it took just six minutes for Normanton’s first goal to arrive, Thompson with a fine cross to Dave Leigh on the back post to tap in from one yard out.

Leigh then saw a great effort go just over the bar on 65 minutes but the hosts were level after 76 when Coctun Cropper hit a tremendous shot from 20 yards which went in off the underside of the crossbar.

But the winner came on 80 minutes as Crosby cut across the defence and hit the bottom corner with a confident strike to take all three points home.

There is no game this Saturday for the Shiners but they have the semi-final of the League Cup against Radford coming up on March 22 with a 7.45pm kick off at Graham St Prims FC in Derby.
