South Normanton Ath. 6

Hutton Cranswick Utd 0

SOUTH Normanton Athletic stayed 11 points clear at the top of the table after comfortably disposing of mid-table visitors Hutton Cranswick.

Andy White led the way with a hat-trick scored on 33, 41 and 60 minutes.

His first was the pick when he picked the ball up just inside the 18 yard area, shifted the ball in his favour and produced an instinctive, drilled low shot under the keeper from a difficult angle.

Adam Nicholls doubled the lead on 40 minutes when he jumped highest to head home at the back post and finish a Tommy Leighton corner.

A minute later White added his second before it became three goals in three minutes and a 4-0 half-time lead when the industrious Ben Summers chipped the keeper from 20 yards on 42 minutes.

White wrapped up his hat-trick on the hour before substitute Adam Taylor wrapped up the victory with the sixth on 85 minutes. He picked up a loose ball on the right-hand side 25 yards out and just fired the ball like a bullet into the opposite side of the visiting keeper’s net.

Despite the six goals, another very pleasing factor was that debutant home keeper James Baker kept a clean sheet.

Athletic will be looking to take this form into this Saturday’s top-of-the-table clash at home against Yorkshire Main.

Kick-off is 3pm at the Exchem Arena and a victory will cement the Shiners’ place at the top of the table with just nine games left.

Main are fourth in the table, 14 points behind Athletic, but have six games in hand.
