Alfreton Town hit back late to grab a point

Tuesday, August 12 Blue Square North SOLIHULL MOORS 2 ALFRETON TOWN 2

Two late headed goals in two minutes from Leo Fortune-West gained Alfreton Town their first away point of the season in a 2-2 draw at Solihull Moors on Tuesday night.

But the Reds had to do it the hard way having gone two goals behind.

In an uninspiring first half Solihull took a 26th minute lead through Tim Gould and doubled it on 50 minutes when Darren Middleton netted from the penalty spot.

All Alfreton's best efforts were left until the last quarter of the game and Fortune-West headed home a Tom Curtis cross at the far post to reduce the arrears on 81 minutes.

Fortune-West repeated the feat two minutes later when he despatched a precision Ben Muirhead cross, again at the far post, to preserve the Reds' unbeaten start to the new season.
