Who was the Best In Show winner at Crufts 2020 - and full results of the dog show

This years annual dog competition Crufts has officially come to an end, crowning it's winner of the much-coveted Best in Show Prize.

The international dog event held in the UK sees dogs of every breed compete in different categories such as agility, obedience, flyball and more.

Taking place over four days from 5-8 March at Birmingham NEC, it’s the biggest annual dog show on the calendar, and this year brought together 20,000 dogs and a further 16,000 attendees.

Here are the full results from Crufts 2020.

Day one - Utility and Toy judging

Included in the utility group was a mix of dogs mainly from non-sporting origins such as the Bulldog, Dalmatian, Lhasa Apso and Miniature Schnauzer.

The toy group includes breeds like the Chihuahua, Italian Greyhound and Pomeranian.

Utility winner: Minarets Best Kept Secret, Miniature Poodle, owned by Miss M Harwood.

Toy winner: Regian Bichon You Rock My World At Pamplona, Bichon Frise, owned by Messrs M & R Coad & Smith

Day two - Gundog judging

Breeds in this category are hunting dogs that were originally trained to find and retrieve game that had been shot and wounded.

These include the Irish Setter, Golden Retriever and Weimaraner.

Gundog winner: Gwendariff Coco Nut Cream, Irish Setter, owned by Mrs D M Armitage

Day four - Working and Pastoral judging

Working dogs are breeds developed by humans to be trained for and employed in meaningful work, like assistance dogs, guard dogs and search and rescue dogs. Breeds in this group include the St. Bernard, Dobermann and Boxer.

The Pastoral group consists of breeds that are associated with working with cattle, sheep, reindeer and more. Breeds in the Pastoral group include the Australian Shepard, Border Collie and Samoyed.

Working winner: Phoenix Never Dies Du Monde D’Elias JCH BE/NL, Bullmastiff, owned by S Loosveldt

Pastoral winner: Bottom Shaker The Greatest Picture, Old English Sheepdog, owned by Mr Koroknai

Day four - Terrier and Hound judging and Best in Show

Terriers were selectively bred to be brave and tough enough to pursue foxes, badgers, rats and otters above and below ground. Breeds include the Border Terrier, Skye Terrier and Scottish Terrier.

Hounds were originally bred for hunting either by sight or by scent. Breeds in this category include the Beagle, Bloodhound and Greyhound.

Terrier winner: Indian Princess At Perrisblue, Kerry Blue Terrier, owned by Mr Davies

Hound winner: Silvae Trademark, Wire Haired Dachshund, owned by Mr D C and Mrs K D McCalmont

Who won Best in Show?

Best in Show 2020 winner: Silvae Trademark, Wire Haired Dachshund, owned by Mr D C and Mrs K C McCalmont

A dog will be put forward for the Best in Show title after making it through a series of rounds - the first round is to win their Best of Breed competition, then Best in Group. The winners of the seven Best in Group categories are then eligible to win the Best in Show title.

According to the Crufts website, the very first Best in Show winner was Primley Sceptre, a Greyhound owned by Mr Herbert Whitley in 1928.

The 2019 Best in Show winner was Planet Waves Forever Young Daydream Believers, a Papillon owned by K Roosens and J Goessens.

As well as breed winners, there are also competitions in agility, obedience and flyball.

These winners are split up into different categories like breed, age and size.
